It’s all about moderation

May 28, 2020 | Fitness Products, Motivation, Recipes

Something that I think deters people from starting to live a healthy lifestyle is being afraid to fail. If you don’t try, you can’t fail. But then you also can’t challenge yourself and surprise yourself when you reach your goals… or go beyond! Living a healthy lifestyle also doesn’t mean that you have to only eat chicken, salmon, rice and broccoli all the time either.

I’m a pretty picky eater, so I do tend to stick to chicken, salad, rice and omelettes day in and day out, but that doesn’t mean they have to be bland! There are so many spices and sauces that you can use to add some flavor and to make chicken taste like something totally fresh and new. Check out the recipes section of Inspiration Made Simple for some of my favorite chicken recipes!

Another issue is dealing with cravings… your body is addicted to the sugar and the bad nutrients that you consume. So how do you combat those? For me, it’s as simple as eating a square of 85%+ cocoa chocolate a day. It cleanses my palette after a meal, or if I’m really craving something sweet, it takes the edge off. Todd finds eating Cream of Rice with sugar-free chocolate sauce, or a scoop of PBFit is a treat.

Do some research and find what works for you, something that won’t throw off your macros (calorie, fat, protein, carb intake), but will make you feel satisfied. And the good news is, cravings generally only last 1-3 minutes. We can all be strong for that amount of time, right?

Cravings generally only last 1-3 minutes.

Green Smoothie with PBFit

If you’re looking for something sweet that is healthier for you, how about trying a Green Smoothie with PBFit? Better Body Foods has a great recipe:

Green Smoothie with PBFit

1/2 banana
2 tbsp PBfit
1 serving Organic Plant Protein
2 large handfuls spinach
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup Organic Oat Milk

1. Place all ingredients in blender & blend until smooth.
2. Enjoy!

In addition, don’t forget a cheat meal! Whether you do it once a week or once a month depends on your goals, but a cheat meal is just that. You eat whatever you want for one meal, no guilt. It’s refeeding the body, and allows us to continue to enjoy life! I was eating a weekly cheat meal, but now that I’ve bulked up and summer is approaching, I’m going to drop that to monthly instead so that I can start to lean out a little bit.

How do you keep cravings from taking over?
